Spills Happen Carpet Stain

Having kids comes with lots of fun, love, sleepless nights and spills. No matter how many times you ask them to be careful, leave their drink in the kitchen or tighten the sippy cup lid – they’re going to spill their drinks on the carpet.

Although Master Clean Carpet and Tile Cleaning of Tulsa, LLC is here for you and would love to come clean your carpets, if you act quickly, you might be able to get the stain out yourself! (Note: the darker the drink color – think red kool-aid or grape juice – the harder it’ll be to get out.

Step 1: Just breathe. They didn’t mean to spill their drink.

Step 2: Get a clean towel and start blotting the spill. BLOT. DON’T SCRUB. Blot up as much as you can.

Step 3: Use your favorite store-bought carpet cleaner (like Resolve) and follow its directions. Or, if you don’t have any on hand, try mixing 1 Cup of warm water with ¼ tsp. liquid dish soap. Apply on the stain until damp – not soaking – with a clean towel or spray bottle. Continue blotting and reapplying cleaner until stain is gone.

**Please note – if using your own cleaner, or dish soap, be sure to get ALL of it out of the carpet.  Left behind cleaners can cause more damage in the long run.

Step 4: Apply/Dab cold water to “rinse” the spot and let it dry.

Step 5: If the stain doesn’t come out, call us! The longer the stain sits, the harder it is to get the carpet clean.

We recommend getting your carpets cleaned once every 6 months to a year. The more often you have your carpets cleaned, the longer they’ll look like new and all your friends will want to know your secret to having clean carpets and kids!
